Spotlight on research and policy for service and volunteering

Volunteering and civic service in SADC countries was the focus of a research, capacity-building and policy workshop held in Johannesburg in March 2007 by the Volunteer and Service Enquiry Southern Africa (VOSESA). This article looks at the objectives and outcomes of the workshop which also saw the launch of the joint special issue of the Social Work Practitioner-Researcher and the Journal of Social Development in Africa, entitled Research Partnerships Build the Service Field in Africa.
