Forum launches the revised Global Volunteering Standard and the Global Volunteering Standard Platform at IVCO 2021

We are delighted to announce that today at IVCO 2021 we have launched the revised version of the  alongside the accompanying brand new set of tools and resources available for you to explore within the  

Forum has developed the  to provide organisations and professionals who work with volunteers with a valuable tool to help them better understand good practice in volunteering for development. The Standard acts as a starting point for these organisations to assess their approach against the Standard and make changes that will help them be more responsible and impactful in their practice. The Standard is a framework that sets out the volunteering for development sector’s collective understanding of good practice across the full volunteering programme cycle.

Introducing the Global Volunteering Standard Platform 

Together with the Global Volunteering Standard, Forum designed  to bring the Standard’s principles to life and put them into practice.  The Platform is the first global, online-based one-stop-shop for good practice in volunteering for development.  

Developed by the volunteering sector, for the volunteering sector, the Platform is the ultimate resource providing those who work with volunteers with practical tools to assess, monitor and improve programmes and practice, while giving access to the most extensive global library of volunteer resources.  

The Platform consists of the following 3 elements: 

  • The Global Standard in Volunteering document you can download and explore to guide your work. 
  • A Self-Assessment Tool is a free, user-friendly, interactive and collaborative self-assessment tool, allowing you to measure the success of your volunteer-involving organisation in four areas:  
  1. Designing and Delivering Programmes  
  2. Duty of Care  
  3. Volunteer Management   
  4. Measuring Impact  
  • A Learning Library of Good Practice: You will have access to the most extensive global collection of international good practice resources developed for and by organisations that work with volunteers. You can access, browse and save these resources, even if you choose not to do a self-assessment.

  • Collaboration: The Platform makes it easy for multiple team members to collaborate and contribute to the same organizational assessment.

  • Multilingual versions: The Platform and its resources are available in English, French and Spanish.
