Forum Webinar

As part of the launch of our research project COVID-19 and the Future of Volunteering for Development, Forum hosted a public webinar on 5 May. You can watch a recording of the webinar here.

Beginning last June, a team of researchers – Helene Perold, Cliff Allum, Benjamin Lough and Jacob Mati – have been working with Forum members as well as the International Association for Volunteering Effort (IAVE), the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS), and the Volunteer Groups Alliance (VGA) to explore our sector’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, new and emerging volunteering modalities, and the bigger question of what COVID-19 means for the future of volunteering for development.

Following this research, Forum is now launching a research series in three parts – a Research ReportSurvey Findings and a set of Case Studies which will be published in June.

We are proud to have launched the Survey Findings at this webinar. This paper reports on the findings of surveys of 130 volunteer-involving organisations and 239 individual volunteers, which sought to answer three questions – What impact did the pandemic have on VIOs’ programmes? How did they adapt their programmes in response to these changes? What do respondents consider to be the future of volunteering for development?

In this webinar, we heard from the team that carried out this research project, followed by a question and answer session. Click here to watch the webinar recording.

Please feel free to share this message with any colleagues who would be interested in the research. If you have any questions about the webinar or the research project, please email info@www.forum-ids.org
